We did it! We've finally made the move to full-time in Van Go! As many of you know, hitting the road and painting plein air has been a dream for some time, and one that we started working toward back in 2020. And here we are.
There's so much to tell... so, this will just be for starters since we'll try to be regular about posting here as we move through this amazing adventure!
Of course, a lot has changed. Our beloved Bentley bravely fought cancer and ultimately crossed the rainbow bridge in 2022. And understandably, our lives are not the same. Not a day goes by that I don't miss my painting buddy. Nevertheless, he continues to inspire me!
And other RV-ers are kind enough to allow me to greet their beautiful dogs. I suspect that we will eventually introduce another handsome canine companion to RV life, but for now, we are busy adjusting to full-time RV-ing ourselves.
Predictably, nothing ever goes entirely as planned, and there have been plenty of challenges. A thirty year old RV--despite all the upgrades--is bound to have a few minor problems along the way. For this reason, we are currently parked at a lovely campground in a warmer climate for the duration of these colder winter months. A tour of the South East which had been our plans has been delayed due to some of Van Go's current mechanical issues (to be repaired) as well as the havoc that Helene played with many major thoroughfares.
All of this gives us time and opportunity to make a few minor repairs and to install the remaining upgrades to "Van Go."
And our currently campsite stability has given me a chance to set up a camp studio in addition to
doing a little local plein air. I thought you might enjoy seeing my set-up: a camp table that has been accessorized with an IKEA pegboard and clips for organizing my supplies. A piece of plexiglass serves as a kind of easy-to-clean palette/tabletop. I have already put the set-up to good use, and painted a "memory" painting.
Back soon with more about daily RV life and a glimpse of my plein air (on location) painting adventures...
In the meantime, allow me to wish you a belated, very Happy Thanksgiving!
