“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”– Mark Twain
Big things are a comin'... A career goal of mine has always been to paint my way across America.
And so my other half (aka "Traveling Man") decided to take the plunge this past winter, and procure a "fixer-upper." After a trip to Florida and a week of negotiating, he returned with this 26-year-old beauty.
Uh, huh. Our "new" RV is older than our son.
But we love DIY.
The Cast of Characters...
My husband is a "Mr. Fix-it."
And of course, yours truly is a professional artist.
Oh, and you may wish to meet our building supervisor... Sir Bentley Rembrandt.
Together, we make a great team. It should come as no surprise, then, when I say that we have remodeled apartments and homes with each and every life move...both near and far.
Yet, I do think this project may turn out to be a little more than any of us expected.
In fact, our timeline and projected completion date has swiftly jumped from a few months to over a year from now. Oh, my...
Nevertheless, we hope to make our maiden voyage before all is complete...sooner rather than later.
In the meantime, welcome to our new website and blog! Here, we will document our RV renovation from start to finish as well as journal about our amazing RV adventures.
We'd love to have you join us for our design planning, our mechanical puzzle solving, our demolition and rebuild, and finally, for the staging of our RV home and plein air base camp.
And more importantly, why not "ride along" for the long-term? After all, this little corner of the worldwide web will track our grand RV adventures and the paintings that they inspire.
For now, have a look-see at the bones of our project...Scroll through the gallery below and you'll see where it all begins.
But you had better take a good look because our "home away from home" won't look like this for long.
That's right. I can't leave "well enough alone." I'm an artist, after all. And I've got big plans for renovating and remodeling this beauty...
As you can see, although the RV is older, it comes to us in fairly good shape. However, there are a few issues that "needs fixin'." No worries, though. I'll save that story for another post.
Next up? My husband's favorite..."Demo Day!!!!!!"
