My French-Style Room Divider Door is complete! And yes, I painted straight through my weekend. But I'm happy with the outcome.
The first photo shows the door in its entirety. I especially like the way the trompe l'oeil frames highlight my landscape paintings. As you can see, I left a border of white around the paintings within the painted frames and then, painted shadows in order to simulate the look of a mat around the paintings.
I have yet to varnish each painting. Since they were painted with oil paint, the drying time may take longer than I might wish. But it will be worth it in the long run. To the left, I've added a photo of my starting point... Just as a reminder of how far this door has come.
As I mentioned in my previous posts when I began this project (HERE and HERE), if you wish to create a similar style screen or door but lack the chutzpah to paint your own landscapes, you could certainly purchase fine art prints online and use Mod Podge to adhere the prints to your door.
However, since I am an artist, I thought it would be fun to add my personal touch to our mobile studio/home-away-from-home. And voila! Below, you can find close up photos of the end result.

Once I have completed the varnishing and have sealed the crackle finish, we will be able to re-install the door. I can hardly wait! And of course, you know I'll be back with photos of the door in its proper place.
