And the Cabinets are Mostly Complete...

Woo Hoo! We are making serious progress, my friends! After a few hiccups, we finally have the cabinets installed.

As you'll see in my photos, however, two cabinet doors are awaiting installation. The installation of those doors is held up by our plexiglass order. For this reason, the pictures I'm sharing today include two cabinets without their doors.

However, with the holiday next week, I thought I should stop by to say "hello" and to give you a quick update.

One of the major obstacles that our friend and Tim encountered was unique to RV remodeling. After completing cabinets and receiving beautiful doors created by skilled Amish carpenters for the project, the guys discovered that the cabinets didn't quite fit.

Yes, Russ and Tim had measured. Twice and then, some. However, as they discovered, the walls of the RV are truly unique and nothing quite works in the same way as it does in a stationary home.

So, back to the drawing board, it was. Yet, in spite of it all, Russ did a fantastic job!! But, of course, he did! He's a complete pro! And I know you'll appreciate the finished product as much as we do!

And now, we are on the home stretch!

Over the next several weeks, we plan to install the kitchen backsplash, and the wallpapers that I have selected for various locations in the RV. After that, we will load the vehicle with all our daily necessities including cooking equipment, dishes, bath necessities, etc.

I'm sure we'll have a few decorative projects beyond that, but the majority of our remodel will be complete. Hurrah!

I promise to attempt filming a "walk-thru" that I can post here for you! That will be quite a day for celebration! It has almost been a year since we first began this project, and here we are nearly complete!

I can't wait to share it all with you! And now, here are some fun photos of the current state of Van Go. As you will see, I photographed over several days, and during those days, we completed a few decorative projects.

As a result, you will see some pictures in which all the curtains are hung and some in which they are missing. Also I haven't decided upon the frame for the painting over the fireplace... that is likely to change. You can also get a sneak peak of our backsplash material in one of the photos...

And now, without further ado... PHOTOS!

I'm lovin' the fireplace... Have a tile-look wallpaper to surround it. That's part of the "to do" for the next several weeks.

With Curtains installed...

Another view of the primary living space. As you can see there is a cabinet door missing... You can see a photo of the WIP of that door if you scroll down just a tad.

Kitchen area with installed, cafe curtains.

Sigh...I'm such a design geek... that being said, I will now add this: I love the lamp shade on the light mounted at the end of the overhead cabinet. And NOTE TO SELF: we need to reinstall one of the ceiling beams. It unfortunately had to be removed in order to install the cabinet.

This photo was taken at night in the bitter cold. And so, the curtains are obviously closed... But it gives an idea of how all the colors are coming together. You can catch a glimpse of the backsplash tile behind the stove.

Another backsplash tile photo. The tile is made of mother-of-pearl. In other words, it is made from sea shell, and that is infinitely lighter weight than ceramic tile. Total weight is very important when designing an RV.

WIP...The wire mesh trellis has yet to be attached to the cabinet doors. Two cabinets will sport these snazzy French styled doors-: the cabinet over the kitchen sink and the cabinet over the mantel.

A photo of the cab gives you a feel for how the fireplace fits into the space. Doggie bed is place of course behind the cab. Gotta make sure Bentley is comfy, too.

The tight overhead space due to the cabinetry meant that I couldn't hang these drapes from rings and still cover the top of the window. Sigh. But it still works this way. Below you'll find a photo of the drapes pulled back. I took the above photo at night. But daylight tells the complete, drapery story.

With open draperies during the day...

We have to trim the beam in order to hang this sign in its intended space. Trimming the beam is a little time consuming, but it'll be worth it.

I don't think I have shared photos of the bedroom with its completed Roman blinds. Bear with me if this is a repeat...

And that's it for now. Hope to be back right after the holiday to share more with you! In the meantime, have a very Merry Christmas!
